Mick Cornett, the mayor of Oklahoma City, decided to make a difference in the health of his constituents.
First it required seeing the situation for what it was without sugar-coating, nor coddling, nor shaming. The next step involved promoting action in Oklahoma City residents, rather than simply discussing the issues and bemoaning the state of affairs.
Did it help the Oklahoma City residents to have a supportive infrastructure and others who could relate to their efforts? Sure it did, but what made the difference was doing something, taking action, any kind of action to get the ball rolling and improve their health and longevity.
What action are you going to take TODAY to make a difference in your life?
I ask because at the end of the day without action there is no change.
At Life in Focus I talk a whole lot about INSIGHT. Insight into your desires, insight into you values, insight about your fears and all the things that hold you back.
I believe and know that all that insight is essential to creating goals and choosing a path that is right for you, but it’s useless if you don’t pair it up with action.
Action can be scary, for a number of reasons, starting with the fact that the second you actually take action you are risk of failing, of losing the dream. Action is about committing, about declaring a choice and making a change.
So I’ll ask again, what action can you make today that will make a difference in your life? Small or big, how about trying now.
